When we think about the horsepower war we think American muscle, Mustang vs Camaro vs Charger. But the folks over at the AMG division of Mercedes have known a thing or two about horsepower for quite some time. AMG has decided to end their horsepower war with the muscle cars around the world. Instead they have chosen to focus on other ways to improve performance. Such as weight reduction, engine optimization and what they call “alternative technologies.” They plan on using the wet clutch gearbox out of the SL64 AMG on the new E63 AMG to help put more power to the pavement without having to increase horsepower. I’m all about new technology and new ways to increase performance, but please don’t tell me a hybrid AMG is on the way.
