The much anticipated GT3-spec Audi R8 LMS was debuted at the Essen Motor Show, race car is marketed toward privateer teams and is part of Audi’s “three pillars of motorsports.” Audi has no plans to develop a factory team with the new GT3-spec Audi R8 but several teams in Europe are set to run the new race car in many European series. The race red Audi R8 makes 500HP from its mid-mounted V10 and is RWD as opposed to AWD in factory R8 models. The power is put down by a six-speed sequential gearbox. The new R8 race car is set to be delivered to customers in the Fall of 2009.

Audi Motorsport based on three pillars in the future

* New LMP1 sports car for the Le Mans 24 Hours
* Development of the Audi A4 for the DTM
* Customer sport programme with the Audi R8 LMS

Ingolstadt – In future, the AUDI AG motorsport programme will be based on three pillars: During the 2009 season, the brand with the four rings will compete once again in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and in the DTM. Additionally, with the new Audi R8 LMS, Audi Sport offers for the first time a racing sports car specifically developed for customer use.

“We know just how important motorsport is for the success of the brand,” emphasises Michael Dick, who as Chairman of the Board for Technical Development is responsible for the AUDI AG motorsport programme. “Therefore it goes without saying that Audi must also be present on the race track in economically hard times. It is all the more important for us to enter a motorsport category in which the cost-benefit calculation is positive.”

Audi therefore continues to support sport prototypes and the DTM. With the Audi R8 LMS, Audi also offers customer teams a racing car incorporating high-quality technology and the typical Audi traits but which is, however, also easy to operate.

Honda Fit Made in USA

The Honda Fit, known as the Honda Jazz outside of the US, has been a huge success for Honda since its North American debut. Ever since the popularity of BMW’s MINI Cooper other manufacturers have been scrambling to bring their own small fuel efficient cars to the US market. The popularity of the Fit has caused supplies of the cute yet mighty Fit to be short so Honda has considered producing the Fit at their US facilities in Alabama. This most likely won’t happen for at least another year or so. So for those in the market for a Fit can feel better knowing their fuel efficient vehicle not only supports terrorism a little bit less, but it’s made in America too!

Review: Inspiretech iPod dock to AUX cable

ipod dock to aux cable

ipod dock to aux cable

I love listening to my iPod in my car and for the longest time I used a cheapo 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, which is six feet long and way too much cable for use in the car, but I was never fully satisfied with the sound quality. I would get hisses from the speakers which ruined my music listening experience in rush hour traffic. So I decided to pick up an iPod dock to 3.5mm AUX cable from the folks over at Inspiretech. The price was right and it was exactly what I was looking for so I decided to give it a try. I added an auxiliary input to my MINI Cooper S just so I could use my iPod so I wanted the best music quality available while. Right when I plugged it in and turned on the iPod and my OEM radio the sound difference was apparent. The quality was greatly improved and I could actually hear bass coming through my speakers now. This is most likely attributed to the music being transmitted via the iPod dock and not the headphone jack anymore.

This cable works with all iPods and connects to any device with a 3.5mm input, not just car stereos. At only $7.99 this is one great deal that is guaranteed to enhance your listening experience while cruising in traffic.

The 2010 Ford Mustang was debuted today at the LA Auto Show. Featuring new looks, a bump in horsepower, an improved suspension and an all new interior, the new 2010 Mustang is sure to turn heads and change the minds of those who often over looked Fords. Ford says that they have “a more engaging driving experience” by improving the shocks, springs and sway bars of the new 2010 Mustang. What really caught us was that the new Mustang only gained 15lbs! This makes the Mustang about 400lbs lighter than the Camaro, sure the new Camaro may have more ponies under the hood. But 400lbs is an awful lot of weight to lug around. We’re looking forward to more news from Ford. Need a new Mustang Body Kit? Stop by AmericanMuscle.com and check out our selection.
